Truth is as clear as day
Hey! It has been a crazy week here in Buenos Aires, but oh so good! This week one of our investigators returned from a trip to Colca where she has a home, and told us she had read the entire BOM! And if that didn't leave our mouths gaping, she followed that by saying that she had decided she wanted to be baptized. This was a woman who was hugely dedicated to the her previous religion, and now her only son who lives in Lima told her she is crazy and has stopped talking to her, but she is firm. She has been so prepared! When we taught tithing, we asked her if she had heard of it before- y"yep 1/10 of my income, I have been paying it for years" She shared with us how once she didn't have the money to pay her tithing- but then she heard the voice of the Spirit saying "You will indefinitely pay your tithing" and she did. She is a rock and we are so happy for her! We had a fun surprise when one of our investigators, Paolo, returned from Lima with a friend, they are now rooming together and now both reading the BOM and taking the lessons!
This week I have been thinking more about Pres. Nelson's address about personal revelation in context of the scientific method- Observe, research, hypothesize, experiment, record, share... It works to help us help us discover more about the world around us and we can learn more about the world around us, and with scripture study, prayer, and experimenting on the words. As we observe, study, hypothesize, ask of God and act on His words we receive greater understanding and testimony of the truth. This is gained line upon line, grace for grace as we follow this pattern over and over. And slowly but surely the Spirit gives light to the things around us. We live in a world of darkness. It is like walking out into the woods at night- sometimes our eyes distort or play games with our minds, and in real life does the same, but receiving and acting on personal revelation brings truth and light into our lives.- as Elder Bednar says- slowly just like the rising of the sun, and we can see clearly things as they really are. And the truth is as clear as day!
12 And I, John, saw that he received not of the fulness at the first, but received grace for grace;
13 And he received not of the fulness at first, but continued from grace to grace, until he received a fulness;
45 For the word of the Lord is truth, and whatsoever is truth is light, and whatsoever is light is Spirit, even the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
12 By the power of the Spirit our eyes were opened and our understandings were enlightened, so as to see and understand the things of God—
I know with all of my heart that this is the church of Jesus Christ restored upon the earth! and I love it!
Love you all! Have a great week!
