REMEMBER!
HOLA from Buenos Aires! It has been a great week here! Lots of learning- usually in the form of trial and error but we are making progress. haha This week we had divisiones with Hna Arias and Hna Ericksen. (Both previous companions) Hna Ericksen and I stayed here in Buenos Aires so it was a good walk through memory lane. It was great to reflect on all of the tender mercies and miracles we saw together. Sometimes we are so busy here in the mission that it is easy to forget my life before the mission, my experiences in Mollendo, and even what went down yesterday. Yet, while we were in a lesson with Hno Francoise I was impressed with how important it really is that we REMEMBER. He shared about how earlier in his life he had burning faith, how after receiving answers and miracles he had promised, "I will never forget the Lord and what He has done for me"... But years later he had lost it all, even asking members of the church how they could believe..
I think every one of us have had these spiritually potent experiences that in the moment we think- I will never forget . But times passes. And we start to forget. It is a pattern that cycles through the BOM- with Laman and Lemuel after seeing an angel, crossing the ocean... with the descendants of the Anti-Nefi Lehites- after the 2 thousand fought without losing one life.... The brother of Jared was chastised by the Lord for 3 hours... why? Because he forgot to call upon the name of the Lord. In continuation of the last email- HOW IMPORTANT IT IS THAT WE REMEMBER WHERE OUR BLESSINGS COME. It is so easy to forget! But if you ever want to feel closer to the Savior, take a few min to remember all the things that you have Because of Him. I think of my family, my temple covenants, my mission, my good friends, all the FHEs and family scripture studies and Hna Schmidt is crying at the keyboard. No matter how often we forget, or pridefully work or way through life, The Lord NEVER forgets. 1 Nefi 21:14,16. And it is exactly for that reason that He gives us weekly reminders, the Sacrament, daily reminders, the scrip, and even morn, midday and evening reminders in prayer. Hope you all take time to remember Him this week! And remember that I love you all!
