The Lord Provides
One Sunday night in the Schmidt home, we finished some nicely competitive board games and realized that we hadnt prepared dessert- which in our family was something like an unspoken law, that we MUST have desserts Sunday night. While we deliberated over what to make, Soren simply stated, no worries, the Lord provides. And about 20 min later the doorbell rang and we opened the door to a neighbor with a plateful of treats. The Lord provides. And this is something that has really hit me this week in the mission. In the beginning of this transfer, My companion and I dedicded to share a little of our American culuture and plan an activity to celebrate both Thanksgiving and Christmas- members could volunteer to bring different platos and we would all share a special night together to remember the blessings we have Gracias a El and then share this light with others (Iluminar El Mundo). Fast forward a few weeks and we had a few sign ups for food, but no decorations, no flyers.... but the Lord provides. We felt prompted to ask a sister in our ward to help us with the food, and we arranged a meeting in her home. In this meeting we met with all of their family and they told us they were ready to do all they could to help this activity be something really special. And it just so happens that this family had elf costumes, DJ/sound system, instruments, decorations, and were willing to bring several plates!ast forward a few days... we are getting things set up in the church and the hour that we had planned to start we had about 10 people and 2 plates.... but THE LORD PROVIDES. And slowly but surely, in Peruvian time people trickled in with their plates of food until we had about 150 people! And we passed the night sharing testimony and graititude for Christ, sharing talents, and sharing the food that the wonderful sisters had provided. When I and the other sisters saw the quantity of food, we thought wow- this is not going to feed 150 hungry people... BUT THE LORD PROVIDES. And later in ward council we talked about how we saw a miracle of the Lord feeding the thousands. The Lord Provides! Really I know that there is no way that all of this could have passed without the direction of Christ. He directs this work! AND, I have been searching and searching for a flute and... THE LORD PROVIDES. I dont have time today but I will have to write more about this grand miracle! THE LORD PROVIDES! lOVE YOU ALL!
