Catching your own Thanksgiving dinner
HOLA! These past few weeks have been jam packed and I have no idea how can put one tenth of all of the crazy, powerful expereinces in a few paragraphs but I will give a quick update to get us up to speed.
The previous Saturday we met with our investigador Diego. He had been investigating the church for several years, but the previous missionaries had put his record in the back of the Carpeta de Area because he wasn't progressing. Hna Erickson and I thought we would give it a shot and visited him one afternoon. Our second lesson with him was one of the most spiritually potent lessons I have had in the mission. He knew it was true. I knew it was true. And everyone in that room knew, could feel it in every fiber of my being. He had passed through a few experiences that gave him a huge amount of fear to even pray, or go to church. But we knew he had an answer so we were a little stubborn with him. We set a baptismal date and this Saturday he was baptized- something his mother had been waiting for for years. It was incredible to see the peace in his countenance as he stepped out of the font, and the smiles of Diego and his mother. Oh. so. good.
For Thanksgiving Hna. Erickson and I found little apple pies in a bakery and I caught us a chicken off the street, so we ate well that day ;) hehehe. In the theme of Thanksgiving, I decided to follow the counsel of DC 59: 7 and try to be grateful in all things- so I wrote a list of all the things that I honestly wasn't grateful for and then found ways to see them as blessings. I invite you to do so as well. It is easy to be grateful for the blessings that we have, but really everything that God puts in our life He does with a purpose. As I have worked to have more perspective I have seen the hand of ther Lord in all things" He is our creator and guides every aspect of our lives! Love you all! Have a great week.
