All children of God

WOW. Another incredible week here in Mollendo. A little update- I hit the jackpot and have another change here in Mollendo with my new companion Hna. McFarland. We are honored to be accompanied with the stellar Hna. Wheelwright and Hna. Arias. But really I am so excited to get to work with these Hermanas. We are all pumped to get after it in Alto Inclan.

One of my favorite experiences from the week was teaching our investigator Javier. Earlier in the week he called me and told me he had read all of the pamphlets and passages in the Book of Mormon that we had assigned him to read and he asked us- Is it okay if I read more. HECK YES. The following day we were teaching him and he shared with us that he had been feeling like he wasn't good enough, that this religion stuff wasn't for him, that he couldn't do it... we looked him in the eyes and testified to him that HE WAS A CHILD OF GOD. That the negative feelings he was experiencing, that we all experience- that we have failed too many times, that we cant do it, that we are nothing special are lies of Satan. Straight up lies. And yes, I am a hypocrite, because I tend to beat myself up. But I know that God NEVER wants us to feel that way. And as we shared this beautiful, simple truth of his divine potential. This 34-year-old man began to cry. And the spirit filled the room and since that day his character has changed- he is so happy. He bought 4 bunnies. And can you guess what he named them? Nefi, Sam Laman, and Lemuel. Yep So cool. 

 I loved the quote from conference that states "As children of God, we should not demean and vilify ourselves as if beating up on ourselves is somehow going to make us the person God wants us to become." There is so much power in knowing who we are and whose we are. When we remember who we are, literal sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father, God, everything changes. The way we see ourselves, the way we see others, the way we see challenges... so don't let Satan throw off your groove. In the words of Moana, " YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE". And don't you dare forget that.
