August 28, 2017 Wisdom from the Mouths of Babes

Hola!!! 

This week we had a neat experience teaching one of our new investigators Alonso. We were sitting on a pile of rocks outside of his home teaching when his nephew ran out of the house and yelled, "I want to learn!" and he ran and jumped up beside us and began reading scriptures with us. And when his mom called for him down the street he replied, " No mom the missionaries are teaching me about how to talk to God and I want to learn! We always have a reason to talk to God!" Or another little girl who is raised by a single mother in the middle of our lesson of the plan of Salvation boldly declared, " I KNOW God exists and we have to pray. We have to read our scriptures. We have to go to church so we can know what we need to do because we love Him. "   PREACH. 

 In Matt 18 we can learn..

1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4Whosoever,therefore, shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

How do we inherit the kingdom of God? How do we become converted? Become like a child... But there's no changing my age so how does that happen?

In 3 Nefi 11 we find the answer...

37 And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and become as a little child, and be baptized in my name, or ye can in nowise receive these things.

38 And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.

In the process of repentance and be baptism we BECOME like a child. This is the doctrine of Christ... Faith, Repentance, Baptism, the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. And it is in this process of enduring to the end- in repenting, partaking of the sacrament each week and improving line upon line that through the Atonement of Christ we BECOME. Become as a child, for this is the Character of Christ. Eliborio with his 97 years was born again through baptism. And Natalia too experienced this new life in Christ. After her baptism, she told me... "I feel like I just came out of my mom's tummy. " 

19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has beenfrom the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever,unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, andputteth off the natural man and becometh a saint throughthe atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child,submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing tosubmit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict uponhim, even as a child doth submit to his father.

I am so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ. And I know that when we strive to be humble, meek, patient full of love... when we srtive to emulate the character of Christ is when we experience the most joy, peace and happiness becuaseof who we BECOME through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Letter to MOm:

I ate a lot of ketchup today!! I hadn't had ketchup in probably a month! bahahaha it was a miracle! But I am doing well. This week was a little challenging. It is not always easy being in trio but really right now I feel great. I am at peace :) I've been thinking about what you said about this time being especially difficult in the beginning and I think it really relates to a slalom ski- and the first three months or so are the 30 seconds of pushing with all your might to get up while choking down a lot of water. hahaha and when I finish the ski my legs will be burning and I will be ready to take a really really long nap hehehe 

As far as things you could do... could you possibly write my capicitadora a note for all that she has done? I think it would mean a lot to her! And could you possibly send me some sheet music to play on my recorder- like Ashokan farewell or good stuff like that? 

Also when Hna. Blackmore comes to study at BYUI it would be totally cool if you guys could have her over for Sunday dinner, games or something like that. She has done so much for me here!
