Milagros baptism
This Saturday was the baptism of Milagros and her sons. :) It was a special day. My companions convinced me to play my $2 recorder in our special musical number for part of the baptismal program, and lets just say it was special. bahahaha If you've ever heard the 21st century fox theme on the reorder video you'll know what I am talking about. But really that night was special, and I am so happy for their little family. After church Milagros was beaming- dancing and singing "I'm a member!" WOOT WOOT.
Things are a little crazy here in Mollendo with 5 hermanas. But it is a great adventure.. Hna. Bernachea never fails to have a smile and joke up her sleeve.Like you never know when she is going to pull you off the top bunk (no worries her mattress is on the floor next to our bunk ;), tackle you and tickle you until you think you are going to die, or pour water on your head. We have a good time :)
This week as we were sitting in the home of our pensionista when one of our neighbors walked in. She is around 70 years old, lives solo and has lost her vision. Although she is blind she has great vision, and great faith. Every day she cleans her home, washes the windows, sweeps her porch listening to he Book of Mormon on cds. And every sunday she gets herself ready early and walks to church with a member. without fail. I have o idea how we got onto the subject but she told us a story about how her friends tried to get her to drink. "Just a little". Nah. "Just one sip." Nah. "It"s not alcohol its soda." Nah. Twisted enough to tell a blind lady soda is alcohol? But she knew. And she had the faith to say no to her friends. Because despite her lack in vision she could see clearly, more than her friends that had fine vision, what was right. What would bring her true happiness in this life. Faith in Jesus Christ. Not bad for a 70 year old blind lady. Fo we walk by faith not by sight.2 corth 4:7 and Often we wave opportunities to grow are brilliantly disguised as impossible situations.matt 19:26 But we need to have the faith to see beyond that. Christ has a vision for each of us.
Love you all and hope you have a great week!!!
